Donation & Refund Policy

Draft — pending legal review

This policy is a working draft being finalized with legal counsel. Bracketed items in [square brackets] are placeholders to be completed. Online payment processing is being set up; until it is live, donations are not yet charged through this site.

1. Voluntary charitable gifts

All donations to Power A Family are voluntary charitable gifts. You receive no goods or services in return. Donations support our mission of providing solar power and food to verified rural Filipino families.

2. Payments and currency

When live, donations are processed by our third-party payment processor; we do not store full payment card details. Donations are denominated in [currency, e.g., U.S. dollars (USD)]. Your bank or card issuer may apply currency-conversion or other fees outside our control.

Online payment processing is currently being configured. Until it is operational, the donation flow on this site does not charge your payment method.

3. One-time and monthly donations

You may give once or set up a recurring monthly donation. Recurring donations continue each month until you cancel. You can cancel a recurring donation at any time by contacting hello@powerafamily.org [or through your account / the link in your receipt email]; cancellation stops future charges and does not affect donations already processed.

4. How donations are allocated

We commit to allocating each donation as follows: 55% directly to family deployments (solar kits and food), 25% to operations, 10% to outreach, 5% to a growth reserve, and 5% to an emergency reserve. This is our standing commitment for funds we receive.

Donations are pooled and directed to families based on need. If a particular family is fully funded or becomes unavailable, your donation is applied to the next family with the greatest need, consistent with this allocation.

5. Refunds

Because donations are charitable gifts, they are generally non-refundable. We understand that genuine mistakes happen. If you made a duplicate or erroneous donation, or believe a charge was unauthorized, contact hello@powerafamily.org within [30] days and we will review your request in good faith and, where appropriate, issue a refund to the original payment method.

Refunds we approve are typically processed within [number] business days, subject to the payment processor’s timelines.

6. Receipts and tax treatment

We provide an acknowledgement for each completed donation. Whether your donation is tax-deductible depends on our charitable-registration and tax-exemption status and on your own circumstances. Until our tax-exempt status is confirmed in writing, you should not assume donations are tax-deductible. Please consult your own tax advisor.

7. Failed or disputed payments

If a recurring payment fails, we may retry it or pause the recurring donation. If you dispute a charge with your bank, please also contact us so we can help resolve it directly.

8. Changes and contact

We may update this policy from time to time and will post the current version here. Questions or requests? Contact hello@powerafamily.org.
